100% Fibreglass — 0.43 mm with Quick Release Pull Tapes

VOLTA VL 120 FB Fire Blanket — 1.2 × 1.2 m in 100% Fibreglass Fabric

Overview

  • The VOLTA VL 120 FB fire blanket is an immediate and simple means of putting out a small fire, working on one direct principle: cutting the flame off from oxygen. It is made of 100% fibreglass fabric, 0.43 mm thick, at 1.2 × 1.2 m (4 × 4 ft) — the size that covers pans, cooking appliances, fryer baskets and small ignition points. The blanket is kept in a high-visibility red pouch mounted on the wall by two metal eyelets, with pictorial instructions printed on its face so anyone on site can use it without complex training. It is released by two quick pull tapes: grip both tapes and pull down and outwards, and the blanket slides out of the pouch in one movement. Its advantage is that it leaves no residue after extinguishing — no powder or foam contaminating equipment, food or laboratory instruments — and it needs no periodic pressure inspection as an extinguisher does. Packaging is 25 pieces per carton, made in China. Available through Al-Najma Al-Wataniyah with guaranteed quality and fast delivery across Riyadh, Dammam, and all KSA regions.

Documentation & Standards

  • A fire blanket works by smothering: it covers the area of the flame, blocking oxygen so the fire goes out without water or chemicals. That makes it the right tool for cooking oil and fat fires in particular, because water turns instantly to steam on burning oil, scattering it and spreading the fire. The material used — fibreglass — is non-combustible and withstands flame temperature while covering. The blanket remains a complement to a fire extinguisher, not a replacement: the blanket for small fires at their start, the extinguisher for anything larger. Product documentation can be provided on request to support project files. We also recommend verifying SASO/SABER and Civil Defense requirements for fire fighting equipment before supply.
  • Additional reference standards for the Saudi market:
  • EN 1869:2019 (fire blankets) — the European reference standard for this category
  • BS 6575 (specification for fire blankets) — a British reference
  • NFPA 10 (portable fire extinguishers) · NFPA 96 (commercial cooking operations) — for the wider equipment context
  • General Directorate of Civil Defense requirements for fire fighting equipment in facilities

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: How is the blanket used?

  • Grip the two pull tapes and pull down and outwards so the blanket slides from the pouch. Cover the fire from front to back with your hands shielded behind the blanket edges, turn off the heat source, and leave the blanket in place until the area has cooled completely.

Q2: Why is it right for oil fires?

  • Because water on burning oil turns instantly to steam, scattering the oil and spreading the fire. The blanket works by cutting off oxygen with no liquid added, putting the fire out where it stands.

Q3: How does it compare with a fire extinguisher?

  • The blanket leaves no residue, needs no periodic pressure inspection, suits small fires at their start and can be used by anyone. An extinguisher covers larger fires at a greater distance. The two are complementary, and having both in kitchens and laboratories is recommended.

Q4: Can it be used more than once?

  • No — the blanket is single use and is replaced after any deployment even if it looks intact, because exposure to flame changes the fabric properties. Keeping a spare in stock for each location is advisable.

Q5: Is delivery available to Riyadh, Dammam, and all KSA regions?

  • Yes, supply is available across all KSA regions with quantities available for B2B projects and outfitting multi-site facilities.
